The nominee of President Trump for Federal Aviation Administration leadership promised to maintain Boeing responsible for safety problems that resulted in two fatal 737 MAX plane crashes.

During the Senate Commerce Committee hearing Republic Airways CEO Bryan Bedford stated that the FAA needs to guarantee Boeing delivers safe high-quality products while working together to resolve fundamental problems. The agency learned important lessons from the MAX development problems according to Bedford.

The two fatal plane accidents in 2018 and 2019 resulted in the deaths of 346 people and forced worldwide suspension of 737 MAX aircraft operations. The planemaker Boeing faces ongoing production criticism while Bedford’s statements indicate the upcoming FAA leader will maintain Boeing under scrutiny during its recovery efforts.
