Investors Lower Expectations Ahead of Trump-Putin Ukraine

The upcoming Friday summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin has failed to generate optimism about resolving the Ukraine conflict.

The dollar bond market of Ukraine showed initial optimism about the summit but now remains at 55 cents because investors doubt significant progress will occur. Trump described the summit as a listening session while simultaneously threatening severe penalties if negotiations end in failure.

EU leaders support Trump’s indications about security guarantees yet analysts confirm that both parties maintain substantial differences. JPMorgan assigns a “significantly low” probability to achieving peace in 2025 yet some analysts predict that the summit will initiate the war’s concluding stages.
